Pros
- Well-insulated wooden build
- Removable liner for easy cleaning
- Compact and versatile placement
Cons
- May be tight for larger hens
- Back opening offers limited protection
- Not fully weatherproof when exposed
VerdictSolid-feeling wooden nest suitable for a single layer: roomy enough for one hen, breathable thanks to mesh panels, and simple to set up. Good for small spaces and hidden egg spots, though size and openness at the back may not fit every flock or weather exposure.

Not what I expected
Very disappointed. It arrived without the screws or the screwdriver the listing suggested. No mounting hardware and the panels felt like particle board, not solid wood.

Adorable and customizable
Cute little nest — I painted it and added straw. Straightforward to assemble. My hen is a bit too large for it, so it’s more decorative in our run than functional for her.

Great standalone lay box for hidden spots
We free-range our flock and often find eggs in odd places, so a standalone lay box made sense. The unit feels solid and the wood is untreated—easy to stain or paint. It’s 13½" wide, 11" deep, 15" tall, and the sloped top discourages perching and helps block sun and light rain. Works well as a freestanding or wall-mounted option, though the open back is a bit more exposed than I’d like.

Assembly was quick and painless
Put it together in no time using the tiny screwdriver provided, though a drill would speed things up. No printed manual inside, but an online assembly video makes it straightforward. Pre-drilled holes lined up perfectly.
