Original Prusa CORE One 3D Printer — Assembled CoreXY Machine
Product description
The CORE One is a fully assembled CoreXY 3D printer built around a welded steel exoskeleton for improved stiffness and long-term stability. It ships tested and ready to print, and includes a removable print sheet plus a 1 kg spool of Prusament PLA (Galaxy Black) so you can start printing immediately.
The printer features an enclosed chamber with active temperature control that can reach roughly 55 °C, enabling better results with PLA and PETG and making it possible to attempt more demanding materials such as ASA, polycarbonate or nylon when properly configured. The motion system is CoreXY, paired with quiet linear rails and a large usable build volume of 250 × 220 × 270 mm.
Controls and workflow are designed for quick starts: intuitive software, one-click printing and local or cloud connectivity options. The exterior is primarily steel for frame rigidity while functional elements such as the removable build sheet and heated bed make part removal and adhesion straightforward. Prusa provides lifetime technical assistance and a 24-hour professional customer service channel for support and spare parts sourcing.
Pros
- Rigid steel frame reduces flex for more consistent prints
- Enclosed chamber with active heating for broader material use
- Includes 1 kg Prusament PLA spool and removable print sheet
Cons
- Can vibrate at maximum speeds; needs a very solid mounting surface
- Some units require small adjustments or firmware updates after unboxing
- Multicolor setups require large external add-ons; no built-in filter for fumes
VerdictThe CORE One is a robust, ready-to-use CoreXY printer that emphasizes rigidity, an enclosed heated chamber and wide material compatibility. It arrives assembled and tested with a removable print surface and a 1 kg Prusament PLA spool, plus lifetime technical assistance and round-the-clock professional support. Expect fast, accurate prints once tuned and mounted on a stable surface; some early unit

Intuitive and great for remote use
Design was immediately clear and easy to operate. Cloud connectivity let me start prints remotely, which was very convenient.

Initial setup issues but prints well afterward
Experienced some start-up problems that were resolved: overly tight Z screws caused a failed test, and a set screw on an XY motor had worked loose and needed adjustment. Support was helpful and each issue was straightforward to fix. TPU felt slower than on my previous printer and would benefit from filament guides to constrain the soft filament into the feed gear.

Looks behind the competition given its cost
Feels like a generation behind some rivals that include features such as built-in filtration and multi-extrusion options. The multi-material add-on offered is clumsy compared with integrated systems. I also ran into firmware calibration problems where homing would fail and the head would slam until a reset. The community fix involved checking and re-tensioning belts and related hardware, which is not ideal for an assembled unit at this range.

Set realistic expectations before buying
I was excited by the open-source claims but found limitations: mine printed only single-color parts without heavy external hardware, and my initial results didn’t meet expectations. Small screws also started to back out in the first days, which was worrying. If spare parts need to be ordered from overseas, repairs could take time, so factor that into the ownership experience.

Dependable, open and highly configurable
After years of printing I appreciate that this unit supports offline use while still offering cloud features. It ships ready to work and leverages open software and hardware ideas, letting you customize and tune the machine extensively. Follow the setup guide carefully since shipping can loosen some components, but once set up it prints very well and is flexible across filament types.

Nice prints but support and missing parts caused delays
Print quality is strong, but my assembled unit arrived missing the anti-vibration feet. Support advised not to run the printer without them and shipping replacement feet took several days, adding extra duties and calls. Once the feet were fitted, test prints went smoothly, though the display kept prompting a firmware upgrade that felt intrusive during initial setup.

Impressive performance compared to older hobby machines
This machine outperforms my old Ender5 in speed and accuracy. Filament loading and unloading are straightforward, the sensorless homing and nozzle-based bed probing work well, and the linear rails run smoothly and quietly. The steel frame definitely feels stiffer than typical aluminum extrusion. At full tilt there is noticeable vibration, so put it on a heavy bench or a solid platform. Only minor annoyances: it didn’t accept my Mk6 nozzles without an adapter, and the heat block is aluminum rather than a higher-end material, but it prints reliably.

Fast, quiet and material-friendly with one caveat
Prints very quickly and handles flexible and engineering filaments admirably — I added a diamond-tipped nozzle for abrasive blends. The printer is surprisingly quiet for the speeds it achieves. However, because the carriage accelerates rapidly, the frame should be placed on a very stable table; otherwise the machine can lose calibration. Recalibration and belt tensioning via the app were easy when that happened.
