Frigidaire Portable Countertop Ice Maker — 26 lb/day, Red Stainless
Product description
Modern countertop styling — This portable ice maker features a red stainless steel exterior and a slim footprint designed to sit on a counter, under cabinets, or in limited spaces. The unit is built to produce up to 26 pounds of ice in a 24-hour period and spits out nine bullet/dome-shaped cubes roughly every 6–8 minutes.
Controls and visibility — A clear viewing window lets you watch ice production without opening the lid. The digital LED control panel offers power, cleaning, and ice-size selection so you can choose between two cube sizes and monitor operation with ease.
Capacity and maintenance — The internal water tank holds about 2.1 quarts, so you can make multiple batches before refilling. The removable basket stores approximately 1.5 pounds of ready ice. A drainage plug is included to empty the reservoir quickly for cleaning or offseason storage. The package also includes a handy plastic scoop for removing cubes.
How it’s used — To operate, fill the tank, select cube size, and start the cycle. Ice forms on cold plates and drops into the collection basket when ready; melted ice returns to the reservoir to be refrozen. Periodic cleaning cycles or manual wiping with a vinegar solution are recommended to prevent buildup and preserve performance.

Still going strong after a year
After a year of near-constant use this has been a dependable backup to our fridge ice maker. It consistently produces about nine cubes every six to seven minutes and has been left running without issue. I follow the cleaning guidance with periodic vinegar cycles and it keeps working well. Melted ice cycles back into the reservoir and is refrozen, which helps avoid waste. Very satisfied with its ongoing performance.

Solid build, some limitations
Mixed feelings here. The chiller section is sizeable and it makes ice rapidly; construction feels sturdy. Controls are straightforward and it includes a cleaning cycle. Important to drain and air it out when idle. Downsides: the ice basket is small and the machine can require frequent refilling if used heavily. For the price range, it’s one of the more capable options available.

Perfect for parties if planned ahead
Great for entertaining—start it a few hours before guests arrive and transfer batches to the freezer. The bin holds enough for a couple of drinks at a time, so you will need to move ice to the freezer for larger needs. The bullet-shaped cubes are effective but require quantity to cool room-temp drinks. I’ve used it over a year and it has been reliable and quiet.

Durable and personally helpful
One year in and it’s still working well. My ice got smaller after a while because I hadn’t cleaned it properly, but even smaller cubes work for us since we use a lot of ice. I rely on it daily for chewing ice due to dry mouth from past radiation treatments, and it’s been a lifesaver. I’d prefer a plumbed undercounter model, but this portable unit delivers steady supply for the cost.

Works well for bulk prep
Performs reliably; not ideal for extremely small counters but excellent if you plan to produce and store ice.

Solid performer, easy to maintain
I bought this in May 2026 and haven’t had problems. I clean it manually every three weeks with a sponge rather than relying solely on the automatic cycle. It runs 24/7 in my kitchen and is quiet except for the cube drop. It’s light enough to move to the sink for cleaning and fits nicely on my coffee station. Everyone in the house appreciates the constant supply of ice.

Quick batches and quiet operation
We should have bought this sooner. It kicks out its first batch in about 6–7 minutes, sits neatly under cabinets, and the stainless finish matches our other appliances. It’s very quiet, has a large water tank for a countertop unit, and has been running daily all summer. Minor nitpicks: the bullets could be a bit bigger and production pauses when the basket is full, though melted ice is recycled into the tank.

Compact and convenient
This small machine fits well on the countertop and is very user-friendly—fill the tank, plug in, and ice arrives in around eight minutes. It makes nine dome-shaped cubes per cycle and has two size settings. The included scoop and basket make retrieval simple. The cubes melt quickly, so I bag and freeze batches to keep a reserve. Better quality than bagged ice and much simpler to use.

Large reservoir and CR recommended
I used product testing guidance and found this model listed as recommended. It has about twice the water capacity of many countertop units and makes ice quickly. I run it to fill a freezer hopper, then drain and prop open the lid to dry it between uses. The machine makes wet ice that can clump in the freezer, but it breaks apart easily when needed.

Check compatibility before buying
Beautiful unit but it’s built for 114 V with a U.S.-style plug. I needed a transformer and returned it because of space and power requirements.

Exactly what I hoped for
Fast and roomy enough to run multiple batches. It paid for itself compared to buying bags of ice. I dump cubes into a freezer container as they’re made. If the basket blocks the sensor, removing and reseating it fixes the issue. It’s very quiet aside from the brief drop into the bin and the large cubes work well for wide-mouth bottles.
