Product description
FerroxiPhos-G is a granular ferric oxide media sold as a 24 kg supply intended to capture reactive ("free") phosphate directly from aquarium water. The product is composed of granular ferric oxide particles designed to bind dissolved reactive phosphate molecules and phosphate-containing organic substances, and it also adsorbs silicate.
When placed in a media reactor or a filtration chamber with good flow, the granules bind and retain phosphate, reducing the amount available for biological uptake. This action can help improve water clarity and reduce discoloration caused by dissolved organics, particularly in aquaria with elevated bioloads. The treatment can be applied as-needed to correct spikes or run continuously to maintain very low, often immeasurable, reactive phosphate levels.
FerroxiPhos-G is labeled safe for use in all freshwater and marine aquaria, including planted tanks and reef systems, when used according to handling guidelines. It is not a replacement for proper tank care: sensible feeding, restrained use of organic supplements, using a high-quality synthetic salt mix, and regular water changes with purified water all contribute to phosphate control. Biological approaches such as cultivating macroalgae and employing an effective protein skimmer are complementary strategies that reduce reliance on chemical media.

Arrived with lid loose
Package came with the lid off and about half the contents spilled inside the box. It appears to work despite the shipping issue; not sure how the cap came loose.

Dust problem, untested removal
I haven't measured phosphate removal yet. Rating three stars because it's very dusty even after multiple rinses. You get what you pay for.

Lowers phosphate but dusty
It released a big orange dust cloud on opening and took a lot of water to rinse. It did reduce my phosphate from .64 to .36 overnight, so it is effective despite the mess.
