GE Motion-Sensing Plug-In Night Lights — 2-Pack, 40 Lumens
Product description
This two-pack includes a pair of plug-in motion-sensing night lights designed for multiple rooms in the home. Each unit houses an LED light source in a compact plastic body finished in silver; the low-profile form keeps the adjacent outlet usable for other devices.
The lights activate when motion is detected at distances up to 25 feet and automatically shut off after approximately 90 seconds of no activity. A built-in dusk-to-dawn photocell prevents the LEDs from coming on when ambient light is sufficient, conserving energy and avoiding unnecessary illumination during daytime hours.
Each lamp produces about 40 lumens of soft, non-glaring light appropriate for hallways, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, stairways, closets and entryways. The LEDs run cool to the touch and are rated for extended life, eliminating the need for bulb changes and minimizing power draw.
Units are UL listed and come with a limited-lifetime replacement arrangement. Installation is simply plugging the unit into a standard wall outlet — no wiring or batteries required — making them suitable for renters and homeowners who want hands-free nighttime lighting without permanent fixtures.
Pros
- Motion-activated for hands-free illumination
- Automatic dusk-to-dawn sensing saves energy
- Compact plug-in design preserves the second outlet
Cons
- Some units may show reduced reliability after a few years
- 40 lumens may be dim for larger, open spaces
- Only activates in low-light conditions, so not useful when other lights are on
VerdictA practical, energy-saving pair of plug-in lights that provide gentle 40-lumen illumination when motion is detected in dim conditions. They’re compact, durable-feeling, and keep the second outlet free — a smart option for home navigation and safety, though some users report reduced reliability after a few years.

Great while they work, longevity varies
They perform very well initially with strong sensing and light output, but some units begin to act erratically after a couple years, occasionally staying on longer than intended.

Quick response and solid build
The sensor triggers instantly when I turn the hall corner. I’ve placed several around the house — bathrooms, kitchen and garage entry — and they only illuminate when required, which conserves power.

Long-lasting and effective
I’ve owned the same model for years and it keeps working reliably. Consistent performance and a handy feature set.

Wide coverage and automatic shutoff
Perfect for my closet where the fan light is off. It provides enough light to see obstacles and find the fan pull-chain, then turns off on its own when I leave with my hands full.

Bright, motion-activated and worth it
Curious about the small screws on the back, but whether or not the internals are accessible, the lights are bright and the motion activation works well—good value overall.

Good quality and attractive look
Smaller than I expected but functions exactly as described. They’re decorative enough to blend with room decor while remaining useful and unobtrusive.

Stylish design with reliable sensing
Placed one in the hallway and one in the bathroom. The photocell prevents daytime activation and the motion sensor provides ample night visibility.

Very pleased — reliable performance
Detects movement up to the claimed range and times out after about 90 seconds. I use one in the hallway and another in the basement for late-night trips; they’re bright enough without needing overhead lights.
