Beyond Bait Two-Speed Live Bait Aerator Pump
Product description
What you get: The unit ships with an extra-large porous air stone, flexible air tubing, a protective plastic housing to shield the electronics, a water-resistant seal around the motor, and a stainless steel clip that secures the unit to most bait buckets.
Two-speed bubble control: A simple rocker switch selects a high-output mode for maximum bubble production or a low-output setting to conserve battery life and reduce agitation when there’s less bait to aerate. The XL stone is designed to produce a heavy stream of bubbles and to sink to the bucket bottom so oxygen reaches the lower water column.
Construction and materials: The aerator’s housing is molded plastic with an internal water-resistant gasket to limit moisture entry into the motor area. The clip is stainless steel for corrosion resistance and the air stone is a dense, oversized design intended to last longer and move more air than standard stones.
Power and operation: The pump runs on a single D cell battery (not included) and can deliver extended bubble time — manufacturers state up to roughly 30 hours on low output under favorable conditions. To use, attach the clip to the bucket lip, drop the stone to the bottom, choose the desired speed, and replace batteries as needed. The protective plastic cover adds an added splash barrier for longer life.
Pros
- Long runtime from one D cell
- Two-speed control for flexibility
- Includes XL stone and stainless clip
Cons
- Not fully waterproof—vulnerable to salt spray
- Can show corrosion over time
- Moderate operating noise
VerdictA straightforward, rugged aerator that delivers strong aeration and long runtime on one D battery. The two-speed option balances output and battery life. Not fully submersible — expect splash-related corrosion over time in saltwater unless extra protection is used.

Solid performer, but watch salt exposure
Air delivery is strong enough to reach the bottom of a 5-gallon bucket and battery life is acceptable. It’s not fully waterproof—occasional salt spray caused visible corrosion around seams over two seasons. The included plastic cover is a thin extra barrier; it helps but isn’t a full fix. Still works after two years of intermittent use; you could seal internals yourself if you want added protection.

Failed from the start
Mine never powered up. Tried fresh batteries with no luck. Would not recommend based on my unit.

Worked after a few taps
Needed a few hard knocks and several fresh batteries before it began operating, but once it did it ran all day without problems.

Surprised by the runtime and reliability
This little unit ran for more than 22 hours on a single D cell for me. I’d owned pricier models that quit after half a day, but this one kept oxygen flowing overnight and through the next day. I kept checking my bucket because I expected problems, but the motor didn’t seize up. After a few days and swapping batteries it continued to perform and kept my shrimp alive for successful trips.

Rusted after first use, but service was helpful
It corroded after the first outing even though I’d kept it in the plastic cover. I couldn’t tell how water got in. Customer support handled it well and suggested it was a factory defect, so I’m willing to try a replacement.
