Liquid Rubber RV Lap Sealant — Self-Leveling Roof Sealant (4-Pack)
Product description
What's included
You receive four 10 oz white tubes of self-leveling lap sealant packaged as a 4-pack for detail sealing on RV roofs.
Materials and compatibility
The compound is formulated to form a flexible, waterproof seal that accommodates temperature shifts and road vibration. When surfaces are properly prepared it adheres to EPDM, TPO, fiberglass, painted metal, aluminum, PVC and ABS. It will not stick to silicone; any existing silicone must be fully removed before applying this product.
Intended use and limitations
This sealant is engineered to flow and level on horizontal roof areas such as vents, skylights, air-conditioner mounts, antenna bases and lap seams. It is not designed for vertical walls, side panels, or as a filler for large open cracks or voids. For major seams, moving joints, or full-roof protection, use this detail sealant in combination with Liquid Rubber seam tape and RV roof coating to build a complete waterproof system.
Preparation and application
Surfaces must be clean and dry. Light abrasion (for example with a fine scuff pad) followed by a solvent wipe will improve adhesion. Cut the nozzle to the desired bead size, puncture the liner, and apply with a standard caulking gun. Each 10 oz tube yields about 22 linear feet at a 5/16-inch bead; a typical 30-foot RV often requires roughly four tubes. Expect the product to flow and self-level during and just after application; this behavior is normal and necessary for an even seal.
Pros
- Self-levels for smooth horizontal beads
- Flexible and waterproof when cured
- Compatible with many roof materials
Cons
- Will not adhere to silicone
- Not suitable for vertical surfaces
- Can be runny in warm conditions
VerdictThis self-leveling lap sealant delivers a pliable, waterproof seal for horizontal RV roof features and detail work. It flows to form smooth beads, bonds to properly prepared EPDM, TPO, fiberglass, metal and common plastics, and tolerates temperature and vibration movement. It’s not appropriate for vertical applications or for filling wide open gaps, and silicone residues must be removed first. For

Excellent RV product
This is the product you need for your travel trailer — easy to use and effective for roof detail sealing.

Simple to use and effective
Easy application and good seal. A little pricier than some options but worth it for the convenience.

Straightforward to apply
Applied around the bathroom and skylight on my GeoPro — easy to use and performed as expected.

Works well but one tube damaged
Application was smooth and it levels nicely. One tube arrived punctured in the back seal and I lost about a quarter of it.

Applies like syrup — tip included
Cut the nozzle on both sides at an angle for smooth flow. Gets syrupy and spreads well; a manual caulk gun works fine. Keep a cap for storage.

Spreads easily to form a bead
The lap cement laid out cleanly and spread well to seal the skylight perimeter.

Self-levels without being too runny
Did a nice job — flowed enough to level but wasn’t overly runny. I scuffed and wiped the area first and the skylight edge sealed up fine.

Performs true to lap sealant needs
A bit runny as others noted, but that runniness is what gives you proper lap coverage. For vertical work choose a thicker product or a cooler day.

Stopped my skylight leak
Removed old material, re-caulked around the skylight and hinges; leak stopped completely. Planning to re-seal other roof components.

Highly recommended for flat roof details
Perfect for sealing vents, AC bases and other flat roof items. Flows just enough to seal but will run on angled or vertical surfaces — not for walls or windows.

Great consistency; long-term unknown
Good texture — not too thin, levels with gravity. I removed old sealant, applied with a caulk gun and used a putty knife sparingly. Went through several tubes and the patches look solid; only time will tell how long they last.

Good results despite slight runniness
Seals well — a touch runny but creates a solid waterproof bead once set.
