Top-Post Battery Disconnect Switch (12–48V) — SAE Top Post
Product description
Purpose-built for SAE top-post batteries, this disconnect installs directly on the negative post so you don’t have to re-route or splice existing battery cables. The unit ships with an SAE female clamp and a matching SAE male post to accommodate standard top-post setups and includes an installation guide to walk you through the connection.
Electrically rated for 12V–48V DC, the switch is specified to carry 300A continuous current and to withstand crank inrushes up to 900A at the 48V limit. The terminals are heavy-duty conductive metal designed to minimize voltage drop and resist corrosion for long service life in automotive and marine environments.
The outer housing is molded from PA66 nylon, chosen for its high strength and heat resistance, and the enclosure carries an IP66 rating to keep dust and strong water jets out of the mechanism. The black rotary knob can be fully removed to prevent unauthorized use, acting as a simple built-in theft deterrent.
For installation flexibility the terminal block offers an adjustable mounting angle so the switch can be oriented to suit cramped or awkward engine bays. You can attach directly with the supplied SAE clamp or use wire lugs for a custom wired installation. The package contains: 1x top-post disconnect switch, 1x SAE female clamp (negative), 1x SAE male post (negative), and 1x install guide.

Well-built top-post switch with solid construction
This NATABOON top-post switch feels sturdier than many rivals. It supports 12–48V and the base is PA66 nylon, noticeably thicker than other units I’ve compared. Finish is clean with no sharp edges. The knob turns firmly — it can take two hands to operate, but that stiffness helps prevent accidental switching from vibration. Ideal for cutting parasitic drain when a vehicle is parked for weeks.

High-amperage unit looks solid — awaiting install
I haven’t mounted it yet but checked continuity with a meter and it switches as expected with minimal resistance. Rated 300A which suits my application. I like that the knob pulls off to prevent tampering. It should fit top-post batteries easily and might be adapted to other post types if space allows. Listing claims heavy copper terminals but that may be a mix of metals.

Works, but loose on screw-style terminals — two-handed use
On screw-only terminals this unit didn’t cinch down tightly and ended up wobbling on the post. That makes it awkward to operate and I needed two hands to turn the knob securely. It’s fine for workshop use while servicing electricals, but I’d hesitate to rely on it as a rapid emergency cutoff in that configuration.

Big upgrade over an old blade-style disconnect
Replaced a worn blade disconnect on my shop van and noticed immediate improvement. The connection feels firmer and starting issues disappeared. Compact layout cleans up battery area and switching is simple. Worthwhile upgrade if your old disconnect is marginal.

WS1984C 4/5
Perfect compact disconnect for a travel trailer battery bank
I installed this on my trailer’s negative post for our off-grid system. It prevents slow battery drain from sensors and radios when parked. The top-post mounting and 12–48V rating make it convenient and versatile; no cable cutting needed. The rotary knob cleanly breaks the negative ground, giving a reliable master ON/OFF at the battery.

Sturdy, complete kit — great for a parked car
Installed on my Lexus; the box includes everything to attach to the negative side. The switch is robust and the labeled knob is easy to use. Instructions were helpful during install. My only gripe was losing a nut during assembly — an extra would have been handy. Otherwise it performed exactly as expected.

Quick on/off for a generator battery setup
Installed this between my generator battery posts and it was straightforward. Bolt it in and you can instantly kill battery power without fiddling with loose cables. The switch feels solid and handles the load without issue — simple and effective for a generator.
