5-Gallon Drum/Bucket Silicone Band Heater — 120V 800W
Product description
Specifications: The heating band measures 7.8 inches by 33.8 inches, runs on 120 volts and consumes 800 watts. The built-in thermostat covers a temperature span of 30–150°C (86–302°F). The package contains the silicone heating band only; drums, buckets, and accessories are not included.
Temperature control: The unit is compatible with a thermostat adjustable between 30°C and 150°C. For plastic containers the manufacturer recommends keeping the setpoint below about 37°C (100°F) to reduce the risk of deforming the vessel.
Construction and safety: The heater is manufactured from double-reinforced silicone rubber to resist wear and provide long service life. The heating element is grounded to improve electrical safety during use.
Mounting and fit: The band features a spring tension system that can extend roughly 3 inches to accommodate different diameters. This keeps the band pressed against straight-sided drums and buckets; on tapered containers users often add a spacer or external cord to maintain contact.
Applications: Designed to warm the outer surface of drums to prevent freezing or to reduce viscosity. Typical uses include warming WVO for settling or biodiesel processing, liquefying crystallized honey, keeping water from freezing for pets, and gently warming paint or other viscous fluids. Suitable for metal and many plastic 5-gallon drums, paint drums, and honey buckets when used with appropriate care.
Pros
- Heats up quickly and maintains set temperature
- Durable double-reinforced silicone construction
- Adjustable thermostat for a wide temperature range
Cons
- Can be oversized for tapered buckets
- Tension springs may not hold on sloped sides
- Requires careful monitoring on plastic containers
VerdictThis silicone band heater delivers fast, even surface heating for 5-gallon containers and similar drums. It offers a wide temperature range and a grounded heating element for safer operation. The reinforced silicone builds durability, and the stretchable spring gives a snug fit on many straight-sided buckets. Expect solid performance for applications like keeping liquids from freezing, warming hon

Solid heater; springs need help
Works as intended on an HDPE 5‑gal bucket. Heats up in a normal time and holds temperature. The tension springs didn't grip well, so I secured the band with wire.

Protects pet water in freezing weather
First time using it; it arrived simply wrapped with no instructions. I tested overnight at 15°F and it held a 5‑gal bucket around 120°F. Adjustable settings let me pick a safe drinking-water temperature for my dog.

Keeps pepper plants warm through winter
Doing the job. I wrapped a 5‑gal bucket to overwinter a pepper plant. Would like a lower minimum setting, but at the lowest heat the plant is thriving.

Melts crystallized honey reliably
Great for liquefying crystallized honey. Springs struggle on sloped buckets, so I used a bungee to keep contact. Increase temperature slowly to avoid overheating the honey.

Effective but be cautious with plastic
Performs well but can get very hot on plastic. Keep a full fluid level and watch the thermostat (it reads in °C). Better suited to straight‑sided metal buckets than tapered plastic ones.

Rapid heater for buckets
Warms up quickly. I used it on a DIY parts cleaner and it did the job. It's a bit large for a standard 5‑gal bucket, but a spacer fixed the slack.

Control is in Celsius — avoid overheating
Performs well for maceration and keeps water temp steady. Fits standard 5‑gal buckets; some taller 6‑gal thinner types need zip ties. Important: the dial is in °C, not °F.
