Yamaha P225 88-Key Digital Piano — Weighted, Portable with Speakers
Product description
The P225 is an 88-key digital piano designed to replicate the feel and response of an acoustic instrument. Its graded weighted action offers heavier resistance in the low registers and lighter touch in the upper registers, giving realistic dynamic control for practice and performance. The keys feature a matte finish for a non-slip touch and a compact action that balances responsiveness for quick passages with nuance for soft playing.
Sonically, the instrument provides Yamaha’s flagship CFX Full Concert Grand piano voice, delivering natural resonance, sustain and harmonic richness. In addition to the flagship piano, the P225 includes 24 instrument voices spanning pianos, organs, strings and bass, giving you a broad palette for different styles. The piano has built-in stereo speakers that project full-bodied tone for living-room practice and small gatherings.
The P225 is built for mobility and everyday use: it’s lightweight, slim in profile and designed to complement modern interiors. It arrives ready to play with the keyboard unit, a detachable music rest, a sustain foot switch and a power adapter. Controls are handled via buttons on the top panel, and the instrument pairs with Yamaha’s Smart Pianist and Rec’n’Share apps to access sounds, settings, recordings and practice tools from a mobile device. This combination of touch, tone and portable design makes the P225 a practical choice for home use, studio setups, lessons and small gigs.

Converts a piano skeptic into a fan
I resisted digital pianos for years, but this one changed my mind. The weighted keys and piano voices are surprisingly convincing, with several timbres to choose from. If a self-described piano snob enjoys it, many others will too.

Good replacement with a few rough edges
Upgraded from an older Yamaha and noticed clear improvements in touch, sound and features. The keyboard can feel a bit stiff initially, possibly due to the compact pivot, and the onboard pedal is a flimsy plastic unit that slips. There’s no screen—menu work is done with buttons—though the Smart Pianist app offers useful control, albeit in a limited form for this model.

Fantastic for travel and home use
Beautiful tonal character and responsive weighted keys. I own a grand piano but appreciate this unit for travel—I enjoy playing it as much on the road as I do at home.

Great for a space-limited beginner — kid loves it
Box arrived damaged but the instrument was fine. Set it up for my daughter and she’s been enjoying it for months. For an electronic piano it sounds lovely and has a realistic weighted action. If you’re short on space and need a full 88 keys for a beginner to early intermediate player, this fits the bill.

Balanced mix of quality, features and portability
A versatile instrument for learners and gigging players alike. It’s light enough to carry between locations, yet the tone engine and weighted action give it solid musical credibility. It won’t compete with top-tier grand systems, but it stands strong compared with similar instruments in this segment.

Minimalist desk piano and MIDI-capable — watch resale issues
I had a frustrating experience with a reseller order that delivered the wrong product in the box and delayed a refund, so be cautious when buying from third-party sellers. The new unit itself is excellent for desktop use and doubles as a MIDI controller. Construction is mostly plastic; keys feel solid but slightly springy compared with higher-end Yamaha models. Plenty of sound variations and a MIDI out for integration with other gear.

Attractive, simple and dependable
So far so good. It’s an attractive unit with clean sound and a realistic feel. It’s large and a bit heavy, so I’ll need a sturdier stand, but overall I’m pleased with the purchase.

Pro-level feel in a compact package
This instrument feels like a professional keyboard wrapped in a sleek, portable body. The Graded Hammer Compact keys deliver a convincing acoustic sensation despite a shorter action, and the matte key tops help with control. The action is noticeably quieter than older compact designs, making it excellent for late-night headphone practice. It responds well to both fast runs and delicate dynamics.

Stylish, portable and genuinely satisfying to play
The minimalist design fits neatly into any room and the unit is surprisingly easy to move. The graded hammer action feels authentic and expressive, so practicing is enjoyable. The onboard piano tones are rich and resonant, and the speakers fill a small space convincingly. Great for lessons, home practice or small performances.

Fantastic sound and feel
The sound is impressive, the keys have a satisfying weight, and the finish is attractive. My experienced partner loves it and as a beginner I find it easy to learn on. We may upgrade the stand for better pedal access.

Confident choice for a beginner
Looks great and feels like a real piano. I bought it as a beginner and expected to use a promotional app included with the box, but that offer wasn’t available in my country. Disappointing, but the instrument itself remains enjoyable and helpful for learning.

Quiet practice option with authentic feel
I keep an acoustic at home but wanted a quiet practice solution. This model preserves a similar touch so practicing on headphones transfers back to the acoustic well. I haven’t fully explored the companion software yet, but sonically and mechanically it meets my needs. Would like a few more connection options on the back.

Compact instrument with expressive touch
A space-saving piano that retains a very musical feel. The graded action provides nuanced resistance across dynamic ranges, and the flagship grand voice captures much of the depth you expect from a concert instrument. Stereo sustain sampling helps give the notes believable decay and presence.
