Giovanni Galaxy Conga — 12.5-inch Requinto Hand Drum

This Giovanni Galaxy Requinto is built on a 30" premium North American ash shell constructed with three plies for stability and tone. The drum comes fitted with a natural rawhide head that opens up with playing and a natural deep gloss finish paired with gold-tone hardware for a classic look.

Player-focused fittings include Extended Collar Comfort Curve II rims for comfortable hand placement, premium Galaxy hardware and reinforced LP Heart side plates. Tuning is handled by 3/8" diameter tuning lugs and the package is protected by LP ProCare Shell Protectors to guard the shell edges during transport and set up.

The instrument is the result of collaboration with master conguero Giovanni Hidalgo, whose techniques and tonal goals influenced the Requinto’s design. The family of Giovanni products spans palladium and compact congas, bongos, timbales and djembes; this model uses that expertise to offer exceptional responsiveness. Its patented placement design makes it easy to integrate with drum kits, and the drum projects with the presence of full-size bongos while remaining playable with either hands or sticks.

Sonically the Galaxy Requinto emphasizes resonance, immediate attack and a warm core; it produces commanding low end, rich midrange colors and clear, crackling high tones. The Requinto was created to provide the broadest single-drum tonal range available in this size, making it a versatile choice for studio and stage work.
