Portable Evaporative Personal Air Cooler — EvaLight (Dark Grey)
Product description
EvaLight uses evaporative cooling to lower the temperature of the airflow directed at you rather than conditioning an entire room. The package includes the main unit, a detachable water reservoir, an evaBreeze basalt-fiber cooling cartridge, and a USB power cable. Controls are accessed via a digital display with adjustable fan speeds and a built-in sleep timer; the unit also features decorative LED mood lighting.
The cooling media is made from long-lasting basalt fibers that are non-toxic and designed for repeated use. Cartridge color can vary naturally from white to darker green tones. The removable tank makes refilling and cleaning straightforward, and the unit is designed to be placed within a few feet of the user for maximum effect.
Power consumption is very low at about 10W, and the EvaLight runs from a 5V USB source requiring around 2A—compatible with power banks, laptops, or USB car outlets. It can be used on its own or alongside an existing air conditioner to add local humidity and reduce dry air.
Evaporative cooling performs best in dry climates; effectiveness drops as relative humidity approaches or exceeds roughly 70%. The manufacturer recommends using clean water and periodically replacing or drying the cartridge to prevent mineral buildup. The unit is compact and intended for personal desks, bedside tables, tents, or small workspaces.
Pros
- Very low power consumption (≈10W)
- Compact, USB-powered and portable
- Humidifies while cooling for comfortable local airflow
Cons
- Not designed to cool whole rooms
- Cartridge/filter maintenance and replacements required
- Less effective in high-humidity environments
VerdictA compact, energy-frugal personal evaporative unit that cools and humidifies the area immediately in front of it. It’s quiet, runs on 5V USB power, and comes with a removable water tank, sleep timer and LED lighting. The basalt-fiber cooling cartridge is durable and safe, though its color can vary. Works best in dry conditions and close range (roughly 1–1.5 meters). Regular cartridge maintenance a

Great desk companion
Bought it for my desk — provides a pleasant cooling sensation and the multicolor lights are a fun bonus. It’s intended for personal cooling rather than whole-room use.

My go-to for camping trips
I pack this for weekend tent trips. It’s compact and I run it inside the tent before bed for a noticeable cooling effect.

Well-designed and efficient
Compact, attractive design and effective up to about 2 meters for personal use. Quiet at low fan speeds and the colored LEDs are a nice touch. A bit pricier than some alternatives, but noticeably more effective.

Keeps my studio comfortable all night
My old portable AC failed and this has been a good replacement. With windows open and a ceiling fan, the EvaLight cooled my living area and bedroom when pointed that way and stayed comfortable overnight. It’s allowed me to avoid getting another bulky portable AC unit.

Very effective — a noticeable temperature drop
Air coming out feels 8–10°C cooler and the added moisture prevents dryness. It isn’t whisper-quiet, but on low it’s unobtrusive enough to sleep with.

Disappointing for my apartment — not what I expected
I bought this because I can’t tolerate the heat, but it only produces barely cooler, moist air and the tank runs dry much sooner than advertised. It leaves skin feeling sticky rather than refreshed. The front control isn’t a touchscreen; it’s a manual dial with a ring. It feels like a polished version of older personal evaporative devices rather than a major upgrade.

Saved us from constant AC and reduced energy use
We bought one at the start of summer to avoid running central AC 24/7. Placed on the desk it dropped the immediate area from above 30°C to around 19–21°C within about 50–100 cm. It humidified the dry air nicely. We liked it so much we bought a second for the other person — one unit per person works best.

Delivers personal cooling if used as intended
It won’t cool a whole room, but placed about 3 feet away it creates a pleasant cool breeze. I use ice water and it keeps my unventilated home office comfortable even when the room temperature climbs.

Good for personal use; follow the manual
It functions as both humidifier and air chiller for a small personal zone. It won’t cool an entire room and it struggles in humid climates, which the manual warns about. I used distilled water and haven’t had leaks. The noise level is comparable to a PC fan and acceptable at low speed.

Works, but filters need regular attention
I like that it uses little energy and humidifies the air near me, but my filter degraded after just a few weeks and mineral residue built up. Letting a used cartridge dry out helped, so I rotate them, but replacements add up. Depending on local water quality, the filter life is shorter than advertised.

Perfect for my small greenhouse
I installed this in my 6×8 ft greenhouse and it’s been effective. On warm days it lowers temperatures several degrees, raises humidity to the 60–70% range, and helps retain heat overnight. My structure is uninsulated and temps swing widely, but the unit has kept highs from getting extreme. I run it with a thermostat-controlled outlet and a fan for the best results.
