8' x 8' Outdoor Roller Shade — Mocha Patio Roller Shade
Product description
8FT roller shade is made as a one-piece fabric panel with two spliced support poles. Widths are available in single-spliced assemblies from 60" to 96" (5 ft, 6 ft, 7 ft and 8 ft); only the metal poles are joined, while the shade cloth remains a single continuous piece.
The fabric is a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) mesh woven in a double flat C-grain pattern for a smooth face and enhanced resistance to sunlight and wind. The material is engineered to reduce solar heat and block up to 90% of UV rays, improving comfort and lowering glare during peak sun.
This roller shade is built for many settings — patios, decks, pergolas, porches, balconies, gazebos, carports, and sliding-door openings — and works equally well indoors where sun control and privacy are desired. The package is commonly sized at 8' wide by 8' high for larger openings.
The mechanism is cordless with a rugged aluminum shell and aluminum connection pieces designed to resist slipping and cracking. The top is fully wrapped to protect the fabric edge and improve longevity. The design emphasizes a clean look and weather-ready hardware.
Mounting is straightforward to wall or ceiling brackets; the shade raises and lowers with a simple wand rather than chains. Each shipment includes an instruction guide, a paper measuring/template sheet, and the necessary mounting accessories and fasteners to complete the installation.
Pros
- High UV protection (up to 90%)
- Durable HDPE mesh with smooth weave
- Cordless aluminum roller for neat operation
Cons
- Template may not have adhesive
- Internal splice hardware can be fiddly
- Long panels are awkward for one person to handle
VerdictA solid option for sun and privacy control: durable HDPE mesh that blocks much of the sun, a robust aluminum roller, and a simple cordless wand lift. Installation can be easiest with two people and attention to the template. Overall, reliable protection and clean aesthetics for patios and covered outdoor spaces.

Lightweight and Functional
Very lightweight with bottom rods to keep them down. Ten months in and still holding up. I use them to shade dormant orchids — the light gray lets me see through slightly from inside.

Good Product with One Faulty Splice
Ordered two 9' shades. The first installed without issues. The second had problems with the internal aluminum splice bars—thread holes didn't line up—so I used pop rivets to secure them. Quality otherwise fine for the cost.

Blocks Sun but Preserves View
Installed to cut evening sun on our screened porch. They reduce glare but remain semi-transparent so sight lines aren't lost. Easy to roll up when the weather turns.

Feels Like a Screened-In Space
Adds a cozy, screened-in feel and gives good shade and privacy. Holding up outdoors so far. I always roll it up before storms. Straightforward to mount.

Well Constructed; Template Could Improve
The shade is solid and easy to install. The drilling template lacks adhesive, which made hanging a long 10' panel a bit trickier, but the finished look is attractive and updates the patio style.

Great Upgrade from Bamboo
Replaced an 8' plastic bamboo roll and couldn't be happier. Assembly and mounting were straightforward, though you'll want a helper because of the length. Operates smoothly with no bunching and cuts late-afternoon glare nicely. Use the paper template level and you should be fine.

Durable and Easy to Roll Up
Bought for my mom; she liked how easy it was to hang from the instructions. Rolls up quickly in wind and has weathered months of rain with no issues. We've recommended it to friends.
