Mr. Pen 12-Inch Stainless Steel Machinist Ruler
Product description
This product is a single 12-inch ruler made from stainless steel for enhanced strength and corrosion resistance.
One face carries coarser imperial divisions (1/8" and 1/16") for everyday measuring and drawing. The reverse side provides finer imperial graduations (1/32" and 1/64") for detailed, precision work.
Both imperial and metric scales are present, and the measurement lines are etched into the metal so they remain legible over time. The ruler is thin enough to lie flat on paper, making it useful for drafting, bullet journaling, and cutting with blades without getting nicked.
Designed for classroom, office, workshop, and light engineering use, it suits tasks ranging from simple schoolwork to layout and sheet-metal measurement.
Pros
- Stainless steel construction for durability
- Dual-sided imperial graduations plus metric scale
- Etched markings that resist wearing off
Cons
- Thin steel can feel flexible
- No hanging hole for storage
- Polished finish and edges can produce glare and be sharp
VerdictA dependable 12" stainless tool offering clear, etched graduations on both sides for a range of tasks from journaling to metal layout. It delivers accurate marks and long-lasting readability, though the thin steel can feel flexible and the edges are sharp — trade-offs to weigh against its durability and fine increments.

Great for bullet journaling
Perfect for bullet journaling — it lies flat so ink doesn't bleed under the edge. Very pleased with how it handles fine pens.

Works as expected
Not much to add — it's a 12-inch ruler and it does what a ruler should do. No complaints.

Watch the edges
Clear graduations, but the edges are quite sharp and the metal feels flimsy. Not ideal for constant hand use.

Accurate, arrived slightly bent
Graduations matched with dial calipers and looked spot-on from zero to 12". It arrived a little warped, likely due to its thinness, but still useful — would be five stars without the bend.

Safe for cutting tasks
Switched from plastic to this metal ruler for X-Acto cutting. It won't slice away like plastic and gives peace of mind.

Not up to 'machinist' expectations
Decent for general use but not a true heavy-duty machinist rule: the steel is very thin (around 0.02"), some markings on the fine side are a tad bold, the polished surface can glare under shop lights, and there’s no hole for hanging.

Performs well
Installed into my kit and it functions perfectly for the tasks I needed.

Accurate but too flexible
Measurements are correct, but the metal is a bit floppy. For leatherwork I prefer a heavier rule, though the marks are reliable.

Precise but zero at one end
Very accurate readings, but zero is only at a single end. Works fine if you plan around that limitation.
