Magnetic Phone Adapter for Telescopes & Spotting Scopes
Product description
Universal fit and sizing: The adapter accepts eyepieces with outer diameters between 30 mm and 60 mm (about 1.18–2.36 inches), so it works with many spotting scopes, binoculars, monoculars and a range of astronomical telescopes. If you plan to use it with a microscope, measure the eyepiece outer diameter before buying to ensure compatibility.
Magnetic phone interface: The package includes the magnetic adapter and a separate magnetic ring for phones that lack built-in magnets. The magnet system is intended to pair with MagSafe-capable phones or a magnetic ring on the phone’s case for rapid attachment and detachment in the field.
Attachment and alignment: To use, place your phone in the adapter and center the phone camera over the viewing hole, then clamp the adapter to the eyepiece and tighten the knobs. The adapter uses a rotating adjustment mechanism and fine knobs to align the phone camera on multiple axes for accurate framing and to optimize viewing angle.
Materials and construction: The main body is precision-machined from aluminum alloy with stainless fasteners for durability and a secure fit. The thin back plate preserves eye relief where possible and the overall build favors metal over plastic to reduce flex and increase longevity.
Portability and uses: Lightweight and compact, the adapter is meant for outdoor activities like birding, wildlife photography and stargazing as well as casual microscopy. It’s designed to let you record or livestream eyepiece views on most phones while being easy to carry on trips.
Pros
- Adjustable multi-axis alignment for precise framing
- Strong magnets and solid metal construction
- Fits a wide range of eyepiece diameters (30–60 mm)
Cons
- Performance can vary with phone camera placement
- Some phones show light leakage or vignetting
- Knob placement may obstruct certain phone layouts
VerdictThis magnetic phone adapter delivers a sturdy, portable way to capture eyepiece views with most smartphones. It clamps eyepieces from roughly 30–60 mm and offers a rotating adjustment system plus strong magnets for quick attachment. Build quality is solid thanks to a machined aluminum alloy body and stainless fasteners, but image quality and ease of use can depend on phone camera layout and user s

Five-axis alignment makes setup simple
The multi-axis adjustment and dial knobs let me center the camera precisely. Thin aluminum at the back preserves eye relief and the whole unit feels solid. I attached a 17 mm male filter adapter to the center so I could screw it to my phone case’s threaded lens mount, which gave a quick, repeatable alignment for my setup.

Works but fiddly to set up
Does what it’s intended to do, but it can be annoying to assemble each time. Don’t expect DSLR-level photos; it’s good enough for capturing what your spotting scope shows, but not perfect.

Excellent for recording wildlife
After buying many adapters this one impressed me for value and ease of use. It is fast to align, very portable and feels premium with aluminum and stainless parts. It handled a wide range of eyepieces. I used it with a Pixel 10A on a Leupold Gold Ring 12–40 spotting scope to document an owl nest in a neighbor’s palm tree — worked great on a tripod.

Incompatible with my iPhone layout
I couldn’t center the iPhone 16 Pro camera because one of the adjustment knobs physically blocks access. That’s a simple design issue but it prevents proper alignment for my phone.

Surprisingly effective mini adapter
Very straightforward to use and feels well made. It gripped my iPhone 16 Pro Max and my Celestron Newtonian without slipping. Took a few tries to learn the best workflow — I found it easiest to line the phone camera up with the hole first (check through the camera app), then clamp to the scope. On my phone the 1x–2x camera gave the cleanest view and disabling Macro helped avoid automatic camera switching. Once you get the routine, it performs reliably.

Solid performance with iPhone 14 Pro Max
Worked well with my iPhone 14 Pro Max. Line up the camera before attaching and avoid over-tightening the tension knob. It’s a bit heavier than plastic mounts but the metal build feels durable and MagSafe made assembly quick in the field.

Handles wide eyepieces well
I needed a mount for the wide eyepiece on my Vortex Diamondback and this accommodated it easily. A magnetic ring is included for phones that lack magnets. Still dialing in the best phone placement because my iPhone’s triple cameras are offset from the center magnet.

Light leakage with smaller phone lenses
I’ve tried several digiscoping mounts and this one is good but can be picky depending on phone model. With an iPhone SE (Magsafe case) I saw light bleed and distortion around the edges because the single small camera sits farther from the eyepiece. On an iPhone 15 with larger cameras it worked much better. The SE result made it nearly unusable for me, though I’m keeping it for other phones.

Happiest with the simplest option
I ordered multiple adapters to compare. The others felt more complicated and less secure. This one felt solid out of the box and gripped my eyepiece tightly. My tip: fasten the adapter to your eyepiece first, then place that assembly into the scope for a snug, repeatable fit. Made returning the other units an easy decision.
