Product description
The Magene H64 chest strap is a two-piece package: a lightweight transmitter module and an adjustable elastic chest strap. The transmitter houses the heart-rate sensor and a pre-installed battery protected by an insulating pull-tab; remove the tab before first use. The strap is made from stretch fabric with a quick-attach clip so the sensor snaps into place, and the length is adjustable to accommodate most adult chest circumferences.
Magene says the sensor’s hardware and signal-processing algorithm have been refined to strengthen detection accuracy during exercise. The unit broadcasts heart rate simultaneously over ANT+ and Bluetooth Low Energy, allowing one workout to be read by both an ANT+ head unit or bike computer and a Bluetooth app on a phone. Compatible devices and platforms include many popular cycling computers and apps such as Magene, Wahoo, IGPSPORT, Bryton and Black Bird on ANT+, and Zwift, Strava, TrainerRoad, Kinomap, Wahoo Fitness, Rouvy, Fulgaz, Nike Run Club, Elite HRV and similar apps over Bluetooth.
The transmitter’s enclosure is designed to be compact and lightweight so it does not bounce during intense sessions. The unit carries an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance suitable for sweat and incidental exposure to rain. A manufacturer warranty covers defects for one year (this warranty excludes damage caused by misuse or manual damage). The strap works with a wide range of sport watches, bike computers and fitness machines, including popular smart bikes and treadmills from several manufacturers.
When pairing with a mobile app, search for the sensor from inside the app itself — scanning the phone’s Bluetooth settings will not surface the device. The transmitter uses a replaceable battery; an insulating sheet is fitted at shipment to preserve charge, and must be removed before first use.

Strap is the weak point
The transmitter seems fine, but the supplied strap caused intermittent readings on both Bluetooth and ANT+. Swapping the pod onto an older Polar strap fixed the issues immediately.

Plain functionality at a low cost
Does exactly what a chest HR sensor should: shows heart rate and battery level via paired apps. No fancy tracking or long-term storage in the companion app, but fine if you only need live HR data.

Update: intermittent spikes and a likely cause
After two normal rides I saw wildly high readings on one session and inconsistent values on others; a ride upload showed an inflated max. Returning required covering return postage because of the battery. Later I found that poor strap contact/fit was to blame for noisy readings.

Not recommended
Poor fit of the rear cover over the battery, couldn’t pair with other apps, and no support to verify operation. I wouldn’t buy it again.

Pairs well with other devices
Connected without trouble to my Lezyne head unit and an Apple Watch. Readings matched closely with another tracker I use—no problems to report.

Simple and dependable
Pairs cleanly with my Wahoo-linked phone and performs well on trail runs and indoor rides to help me keep Zone 2. Stayed connected throughout workouts. The strap clip is a bit basic and can rub, but it’s manageable. I like that the battery is user-replaceable.

Stopped working after a few months
Worked fine initially but after roughly four months it became unreliable. It often would not connect and the battery life dropped rapidly; I went through many cells in a short span and eventually stopped using it.

Unreliable and clunky app
Unit connects only sporadically, and the companion app is awkward to use. I couldn’t get it to integrate the way I wanted with other fitness apps, so it ended up unused.
