2-Pack Dog Car Seat Belts — Headrest Tether Safety Leads
Product description
What you get: Two identical headrest-style pet tethers designed for vehicle use. Each unit includes a nylon strap, a swivel snap hook made from zinc-alloy metal, and a buckle assembly to adjust length.
Materials and size: The straps are woven nylon for abrasion resistance and flexibility. The clip is a solid zinc-alloy swivel to reduce twisting. The adjustable range spans about 18 to 30 inches so you can limit or increase your dog’s roaming area depending on size and seat position.
How it attaches and is used: The strap loops around or clips to the vehicle headrest post and secures with the buckle so the tether hangs from above. The other end fastens to a dog harness (recommended) via the snap hook. In a pinch the tether can convert to a short hand lead for quick potty breaks or to anchor a pet to a post.
Practical notes: The strap detaches easily for storage. It’s intended to restrain and slow movement, not to replace a certified crash-tested restraint system. For safety, avoid attaching the tether directly to a collar; pairing with a harness distributes force more safely.
Pros
- Durable nylon webbing
- Adjustable 18–30 inch length
- Can convert to a handheld leash
Cons
- Should be used with a harness, not a collar
- Hardware may fail under extreme load
- Two-pack may be extra if only one tether is needed
VerdictSolid, inexpensive restraints that limit a pet’s movement while allowing some freedom to sit or lie down. Good for everyday trips and short journeys, but the hardware may not withstand extreme forces. Best used with a harness and regular supervision.

Should work well for us
They keep dogs in the backseat while still allowing them to lie down or change position. Handy that they double as leashes for quick stops.

Not strong enough in a critical fail
Worked fine until my dog attempted to jump out; the metal hook split apart. I was able to grab her, but a sudden stop could have been dangerous. Concept is good but needs stronger hardware.

Effortless to attach and use
Gives me peace of mind when driving with my pet. The length is easy to set and the straps feel sturdy without rubbing. They keep my dog settled whether it's a vet trip or a weekend drive. Includes two straps so I can keep one in each vehicle.

Perfect for an active, fidgety dog
My pup moves, spins and tries to climb, so I wanted a tether to attach to her harness rather than her collar. This fastens to the headrest and adjusts so she can stand or sit without getting yanked by the throat. It’s currently set short, but the extra length will be useful as she grows.

Transformed our car rides
Mounting from the headrest reduces tangling and keeps my growing puppy from falling off the seat. She can stick her head out the window but can’t tumble off. Useful as an emergency leash too. I would have preferred the option to buy a single strap rather than a pair, but overall these are effective and adjustable.
