Vintage Vacuum Siphon Coffee Brewer — Belgian-Style Balance System
Product description
Construction and materials: The unit is assembled from high-borosilicate glass for the upper and lower chambers, 304 stainless-steel hardware, and a wooden support that receives a plated finish. The metallic surfaces undergo a titanium-like plating process to increase scratch and corrosion resistance, helping the device keep a neutral profile so coffee flavor remains intact.
How it brews: This is a balance siphon system that relies on heat to create steam pressure, then gravity and vacuum action to move water through the grounds. Watching the liquid rise and fall resembles a small science demonstration—heat forces liquid upward, it mixes with coffee, then cooling and pressure change pulls the brew back down through the filter into the lower carafe.
Capacity and components: The brewer yields roughly 15 ounces per full cycle, approximately equivalent to up to four modest cups. It includes the glass upper and lower chambers, stainless fittings and filter assembly, and the wooden base that supports the apparatus. The integrated filter is designed to capture fine grounds while allowing essential oils and flavors into the cup.
Versatility and use cases: Suitable for houses, offices, cafes, bars, lounges and teahouses, the siphon works for coffee and delicate teas alike. Because brewing is manual and visible, it’s equally at home as a presentation piece in a commercial setting or a focal point during weekend coffee rituals at home.
Aesthetic details: The unit features a gold-plated finish on metal parts that gives a luxurious appearance, paired with a rustic wooden base that introduces a natural, warm element. The combination creates a vintage, elegant look that complements traditional or eclectic interiors.

Fun to watch and works well
I filled one chamber with coffee and the other with water, lit the fuel, and enjoyed the whole process. It brewed nicely; I only wish the siphon tube pulled a bit more through on the return. Saw a barista demo one and wanted to try it.

Stopped working
Gave this as a present but it failed to operate. Disappointing—wouldn't recommend as a gift unless you test it first.

Great for a show and good coffee
I enjoy this brewer. It’s mostly for the spectacle, but it also makes a tasty cup. Very sturdy, arrives assembled and is simple to start using. Worth the cost if you like the experience.
