ER70S-6 .023 in Solid MIG Welding Wire — 10 lb Spool
Product description
ER70S-6 PERFORMANCE: This solid MIG welding wire is manufactured to provide steady arc control and reduced spatter, useful for both single-pass and multi-pass welding operations.
SMOOTHER BEADS VIA DEOXIDIZERS: The wire is alloyed with elevated levels of silicon and manganese deoxidizers to help produce smoother weld beads and improved puddle chemistry for a cleaner finish.
COMMON JOINTS: Suitable for typical joint types — T-joints, butt welds, and lap welds — across professional fabrication, metalworking projects, and DIY repairs.
DIMENSIONS AND PACKAGING: Supplied in a .023-inch diameter on a 10-pound spool, so key specifications are easy to confirm before use. The spool is wound and boxed to help limit tangles and simplify handling during setup.
HANDLING AND USE: Designed for standard MIG setups; it feeds consistently for routine automotive, repair, and fabrication tasks. Proper shielding gas and machine settings should be selected for best results.
Pros
- Consistent feed and stable arc
- Low spatter and smooth bead formation
- Clear specs: .023 in diameter on 10 lb spool
Cons
- Outer packaging can be minimal during transit
- Some spool hubs may need adapters for certain machines
- Spool handling requires care to avoid damage
VerdictThis .023-inch ER70S-6 solid MIG wire delivers consistent feed and a stable arc, producing tidy beads with minimal spatter across single- and multi-pass welds. The chemistry includes silicon and manganese deoxidizers to promote cleaner puddles and better bead appearance. It comes on a 10 lb spool and is packaged to reduce tangling during installation. Solid for auto patches
Good wire. Used it to weld floor pans on a car — worth the investment.

Fits my welder fine
No issues; it feeds and fits my welding machine without problems.

Great product, shipping delays
Five-star performance from the wire itself, but delivery was slower than expected.

Low spatter, high quality
Produces almost no spatter and feels like a high-quality material.

Better control on thin metal
Cleaner welds than the 0.035 I used before. Lets me weld thin sheet metal with more precision.

Excellent value compared to local options
High-quality wire and a strong value versus nearby sources. I’ve already run through three spools.

Quality wire and fair value
Excellent quality and a fair overall value, unlike some big-brand alternatives.

Performs well
Good value and welds cleanly with reliable feed.

Welds great but protect the spool better
Performs as well as the shop wire I normally buy. The phenolic spool can be brittle; mine arrived with a chunk broken off. Thin cardboard didn’t protect it—double-boxing with foam would help. Lose a star for packaging.

Consistent burn
This is my second spool — it burns and performs reliably.

Good for CO2 MIG setups
Excellent conductivity and smooth feed with CO2 shielding; no snagging and very satisfied.

Smooth feed and reliable arc
Exceeded expectations. Feed was very steady, spatter was low, and beads came out clean and uniform. Handled automotive and fabrication work reliably; very pleased overall.

Clean welds but check spool bore
Gave clean welds. Note the spool hub opening is larger than some machines expect; adapters or a simple bushing may be required.
